Yes, I continue to play this game every once in a while, and I just set 2679.

Randiction 1.0 JRE 1.5 Update

There are now two versions of Randiction: one for the old JRE and one for JRE 1.5. To see which version you have, open Terminal, type in:

java -version

and hit return. If the resulting text that gets printed on the screen includes 1.5.0, then you have JRE 1.5. Otherwise, you have an older JRE.

The reason that I bring these details up is that upon updating to JRE 1.5, the Randiction interface becomes flawed. So, I have reprogrammed Randiction to suit the latest JRE.

I'm not sure what kind of records you've been setting since March 2, 2006, but it's a little over 6 months later, and let's see what you've got. Post a screenshot, as well. Here's mine:

Yes, I know, it's way too easy to cheat, since you just edit records.txt and put in the numbers that you want. Anybody score 2006? It is possible, you know.

Change of email address - I am fed up with Gmail

I have been getting nothing but spam from my Gmail account lately. It's nearly the identical spam message being dumped into my spam folder (so, now, I have 2 folders of mail to search through instead of 1 on a regular basis), and I've gotten 80 of these in the past month. Gmail marks each message clearly as spam, but still dumps them all into my account anyways. Why not just block it if it's spam? Well, they don't have a way for me to block emails. Such an ineffective webmail service in the middle of 2006 is not acceptable, at least for me.

So, I've established a Yahoo account for my non-personal email address.

Randiction 1.0 2006.7.19 update

I've made some extremely small changes to the program. The 2006.7.19 update shows changes to erased records upon clicking "View Top 10" and displays "Final Score" upon winning the last level instead of "Current Score." It took me until a few days ago to beat the level and find out that "Current Score" was there when it should not be.

The program is, still, version 1.0, since my view of how all parts of the program operate have not changed. It's just that when I submitted 1.0 back in March of 2006, the program did not operate as I viewed that it should.

Randiction 1.0 released - Site info

So, what's Randiction about anyways? Randiction is a random number guessing game. You guess between two numbers and get points for being right. That's the concept behind my program. I have kept this two-year project quiet, since I wanted to make the program as perfect as possible before I release it for distribution.

In deciding if I wanted to use a blog or an independent site for the application, I decided to go with a blog, since I want comments about the program submitted for other people to see. You can post anonymously here, since, even with the potential for spam-bot posts, I do not see why I should require registration here just to post. I plan to keep both the software and the site minimal in required involvement, so that is why I have a pretty much template-originated and casual layout here.
I have set up a Gmail account for you to email me if you feel that your comment is more effective through a more personal medium.
